Jakarta – The Ministry of Law reaffirmed its commitment to advancing women’s empowerment as a cornerstone of national development during the 97th Mother’s Day Commemoration Ceremony in 2025, held at Lapangan Upcara the Ministry of Law on Monday (December 22, 2025).
Leading the ceremony, Head of the Human Resources Development Agency of Law (BPSDM Hukum), Gusti Ayu Putu Suwardani, underscored the strategic role of Indonesian women as drivers of development across various sectors.
“Indonesian women never stop striving. Through resilience and creativity, women continue to demonstrate that national progress is inseparable from the progress of women,” she stated.
She noted that the 97th Mother’s Day serves as a moment to honor women from all walks of life, regardless of social background, profession, culture, or region. Women’s contributions span a wide range of fields, from family-based economic activities, education, and health, to governance, technology, the arts, and sports.
Gusti Ayu further emphasized the government’s commitment to strengthening the protection and empowerment of women through robust legal and policy frameworks, including the Law on Sexual Violence Crimes, the Law on the Elimination of Domestic Violence, the implementation of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), and the mainstreaming of gender perspectives across all development sectors.
“We must move beyond ceremonial observances. Concrete actions, cross-sector collaboration, and sustained commitment are essential to ensure women’s full participation in development,” she stressed.
In closing, she expressed her highest appreciation to Indonesian women for their resilience, dedication, compassion, and tangible contributions to the nation’s journey toward an inclusive and equitable Indonesia Emas 2045.
