Jakarta – Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas emphasized that leaders are expected to demonstrate courage and decisiveness, particularly in clearly distinguishing between right and wrong. He noted that President Prabowo Subianto has also stressed that leaders must possess a sense of firmness.
“By firmness, we do not mean arbitrariness. It means having the courage to state that what is wrong is indeed wrong and must be subject to sanctions, while what is right must be acknowledged and rewarded,” Supratman said during the inauguration and oath-taking of 32 managerial officials within the Ministry of Law.
He underscored that leaders with integrity must not hesitate to take fair and firm action against any violations of agreed rules or values.
“From the day I was inaugurated as Minister of Law, I have made it clear that we are determined to put an end to all practices that hinder public service delivery,” Supratman stated on Thursday (8 January 2026) at Graha Pengayoman.
Beyond integrity and firmness, Supratman highlighted the importance of officials who are not only intellectually capable but also emotionally intelligent, those able to manage emotions, demonstrate empathy, and engage effectively in social interactions.
“We need capable and intelligent people. High IQ is important, but as emphasized by the President, what matters even more is having a heart, the ability to feel and understand when our services fall short of public expectations,” he said.
In closing, the Minister stressed that digital transformation must become a shared commitment across the Ministry.
“The only viable and effective path to ensuring accountability and control for all of us is digital transformation,” he concluded.
Through digitalization, the Ministry of Law aims to enable its entire workforce to operate more efficiently, transparently, and accountably.
