Jakarta – As Ramadan approaches, Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas shared a reflective message on the meaning of worship and professional responsibility. He said the spiritual momentum of Ramadan is a time to strengthen integrity, deepen dedication, and realign intentions in carrying out entrusted duties.
“Positions gives us authority, but it has its limits. Positions are temporary. After we leave them, what remains are the stories of how we served,” Supratman said during a Munggahan (the Pre-Ramadan Gathering) to welcome Ramadan 1447H/2026 at Graha Pengayoman.
He emphasized that the way leaders treat their staff and colleagues will be what people remember most. Supratman also encouraged Muslim employees at the Ministry of Law to welcome Ramadan as a blessed month by increasing good deeds and supporting one another. He hopes the holy month will strengthen values of togetherness, integrity, and exemplary conduct.
In the same event, preacher Ahmad Sarwat noted that Ramadan in Indonesia has become a shared cultural moment, not only for Muslims but also for people of other faiths who experience its positive atmosphere.
He also explained that during the time of Prophet Muhammad, Ramadan was not only about staying in the mosque. The Prophet and his companions remained active, and several historic events, such as the Battle of Badr and the conquest of Mecca, took place during Ramadan. Many important achievements, he added, can occur during this month, including Indonesia’s independence on 17 August 1945.
Sarwat highlighted that one of Ramadan’s unique acts of worship is tarawih prayer, which is performed only during this month. While other acts of worship can be done at any time, tarawih is exclusive to Ramadan. He encouraged Muslims not to miss the opportunity to perform it, preferably in congregation at the mosque.
